What to remember when using a trailer

If you want to buy trailer insurance, remember about a few important points.

1. The trailer up to 750 kg is insured together with the towing vehicle.
2. If the trailer weighs more than 750 kg, it should have its own green card.
3. A trailer over 3,500 kg must be registered with the APK, which is the Dutch equivalent of vehicle inspection.
4. The trailer must have the appropriate licence plates:

• if the trailer weighs less than 750 kg, white plates with the same number as the towing vehicle are sufficient
• if the trailer weighs more than 750 kg, it should have its own registration plates
