Choose your health insurance in the Netherlands

Basic health insurance in the Netherlands is mandatory. Everyone who works or lives in the Netherlands must take it out. This must be done no later than four months after registering your residence with the municipality. Compulsory health insurance
Everyone who lives or works in the Netherlands is legally obliged to take out Basic health insurance. The basic insurance covers the most necessary care:
- medical consultation,
- prescribed medication,
- hospital treatment,
- the arrival of an ambulance,
- emergency medical care,
- mental health care.
Mandatory deductible (Own Risk)
Every insured person has at least the mandatory deductible(Own Risk). This is the part you always have to pay yourself. You can choose to have a higher deductible (Risk). You will then receive a discount on the premium.
Additional insurances
It is possible to take out additional health insurance. A supplementary insurance is not obligatory, but can cover for example physiotherapy, or a wider range of dental care or so-called alternative treatments.The content of the supplementary insurances differs per insurer.
