Roadside assistance – available protection options
When arranging your car insurance, the insurer’s representatives will explain the available roadside assistance options. It’s important to note that only costs related to the vehicle breakdown are reimbursed. Unexpected expenses, such as meals, fuel, or parking, are not covered.
- Assistance at your residence
If the breakdown occurs at your place of residence, roadside assistance guarantees:
- on-the-spot help at the scene.
- quick and professional repairs on-site (if possible).
- transportation of the driver, passengers, and their luggage to the home address.
- towing of the vehicle to the nearest dealer or repair shop.
If the vehicle cannot be repaired the same day, you are entitled to:
- A replacement vehicle for 24 hours.
- Alternatively, taxi transportation up to €100.
- Assistance Away from Your Residence but Within the Netherlands
If the incident happens elsewhere in the Netherlands, you are entitled to:
- all the services listed in point 1.
- reimbursement for second-class train transport for one person.
If the vehicle cannot be repaired the same day and transportation back to your residence is not possible, you are entitled to:
- A replacement vehicle for up to 2 days.
- Alternatively, reimbursement for hotel accommodation (up to €80 per person for two nights).
- Assistance abroad within Europe
In addition to the services in point 1, you are entitled to:
- Reimbursement for accommodation if the car repair takes up to 48 hours (€80 per person for one night).
If the vehicle cannot be repaired within 48 hours:
- Roadside assistance insurance will arrange for the vehicle to be transported back to the Netherlands, with the costs of the breakdown calculated accordingly.
- Reimbursement for travel by train or with a replacement driver.
- If train travel exceeds 8 hours, an economy class flight ticket may be provided.
